If you had a million dollars! What would you do first? How would you invest it?

I'd give it to families who want to but can't afford to adopt kids. Its so messed up how much money it cost.

First, I would pay off all debts. Second, I would take my family on a vacation. Third, I would contact a financial advisor and discuss with them my long term savings goals and discuss a moderate plan for investing in various different things.

I would pay off some bills and put the rest in my savings acount!

GO crazy and scream and go on a crazy shopping frenzy i would buy like cars and mountains

I'd be one of those people who'd just stick it in the bank and let it collect dust until I needed it.

And then only if it was important.

Well. No. I'd give half to my parents. The other half would sit there collecting dust.

They've put up with me for almost eighteen years; they sure as hell get it. =D

If I had a million dollars, I would first buy a house, (not a mansion, but just a normal house) and pay it off... buy a new car and pay that off as well, make sure that I"m paid ahead on my utilities and other bills by at least a year.. then I would put aside a small monthly spending account, and put the rest in savings.

oh and hire a body guard, cuz once word gets out, people are going to be coming after you and calling you greedy for not helping them out.

I have a million, actually quite a bit more, and after gaining the first (mostly from home equity appreciation) we reinvested it into more real estate investments that generated much more cash. Now we are investing in the stock market since real estate has run its course for the time being.

save it at the bank ,deposit by compound interest .

I would buy a woopie cushion becaue it would make me feeel good inside and i could make out with it. then i would buy a chicken coop and turn myself into an egg.

Some of the things you shouldn't do as suggested by other answerers.

DO NOT buy property or land.
DO NOT invest in the NHS.
DO NOT discuss it with a financial advisor as almost all are wrong or they would invest it.
DO buy a share tracking system and read economic magazines and tutorials to see which would be a medium term profit.

buy a property then sell it for more than i brought it for.

or i would invest it into the NHS health service in England. to help pay their debt off.
