Here's what I would do because I think it would wrap things up nicely. During the day I would finish writing my novel and overnight it to my literary agent. Next I would check my e-mail, send out goodbye messages, and finish my Yahoo Answer session. I would then go shopping for presents for people to remember me by which I would handout at a big dinner party for family and friends. Following the many course meal with a huge dessert table there would be viewings of home videos and movies. Then I would go to sleep under the stars. |

I would finish my Answers session, because it's 4:20 a.m., and too early to wake my friends. But if I had only 24 hours, I'd start pretty early calling my friends and asking them to join me in a farewell party. Tell them to bring whatever they want to remember about me, and take away whatever they can.
Then I'd rewrite my will, because my current primary beneficiary has recently died, and it's a nuisance to lawyers to have to figure out what to do next.
Once my friends started arriving -- probably the two who live just upstairs first -- I would let them guide the shape of my last day with them. And I would be on the phone calling other people I realized I wanted to talk to one more time. Steve's mom, certainly, and probably his sister as well. I doubt I would call any of my own family . . . I don't even have any telephone numbers. |
