Uknown | If you want to become a trader, should you study finance or economics? |
Please explain as well why you chose either finance or economics? (I'm currently debating which I will go into when I go to College) |

You could major in almost any subject but you should have an understanding of Finance, Economics, and Accounting but a degree is not required to be trader, BUT many Wall Street firms and banks require it.
There are no real courses in the academic world that really prepares one for trading.
Traders, as well as others in this business that work on the street (except for Reps & analysts) all fit the same profile - they have above average intelligence, good at math, outgoing personality, communicate very well (cursing not required but helps) and not wrapped too tight.
If you want to get into the business, there's no reason why you should wait until you graduate from college. Start right now learning about the markets and the various products. I started in grade school, and never regreted it. |

I would say finance, I majored in econ in college and while part of it does pertain to money, people get confused with the fact that economics is a social science and can pertain to anything from money, to labor, to health care. I took a total of 1 class pertaining to finance it was called the Economics of Money and Banking. A class called Personal Finance was also offered but it was not required. Most of the other econ courses I took had nothing to do with money but rather with the allocation of resources in many different markets and some even dealt with peoples' behavior. Economics is more closely related to Psychology, in my opinion. If you want to totally immerse yourself in the investment and trading world then I would major in finance. |

Either. Many people major in both, or major in one and minor in the other. |

Neither,
Finance and economics are great for long term investing, but will probably hurt you if you use them to trade with. If you want to be a trader Technical analysis is the way to go. |

Economics
Supply and demand, circulation, profits
finances are more about your personal requisites |

I'm thinking you should study both and also business and investing just so you could be well rounded. I would also recommend that you think of something else to study outside of this field just in case you start taking classes in it and realize that you hate it but you have nothing else to fall back on. Just an FYI, you do not have to declare a major as soon as you get to college and 65% of people change their majors at least once while they are in school. |
