no you are not allowed to buy shares you have to enter a contract and no person under the age of 18 is deemed capable of signing a binding contract in law.
if you want to buy shares you will have to have a intermediary to buy them |

As far as I know you have to be at least 18 to trade stocks in Canada or the United States. The good news is that in the meantime you can do plenty of research and test your skill in dry runs....create a mock portfolio at Yahoo finance and see how you do. I would also recommend you connect with an investment forum or group (such as http://www.stockpickr.com) to gain tips from those with experience. Best of luck. |

18 is the general age for stock buying/owning...try halifax.co.uk. There sharebuider is only £1.50per purchase and is a great 1st time buyer experiance, that way at £1.50 per purchase you will never lose too much should your investment be a bad idea. |

I really don't know for sure but you could always just pay a parent so they can buy one for you or with you. I agree that it is good practice especially at your age. |

yes you can, buy small number of shares in a good companies, with low P/E ratios, low Price book values, you need to know a little about these stuff, check this website it is good for learning,
www.investopedia.com
it good free website, that will let you start a game where you can start a portfolio, with $100,000, "Not really money of course",... and everything in it is real, the prices and everything,.... it is great fun... but the problem that it is slow, if you buy a stock you have to wait 15-20 mins before it show up in your portfolio...
Good Luck |

''no you are not allowed to buy shares you have to enter a contract and no person under the age of 18 is deemed capable of signing a binding contract in law.
if you want to buy shares you will have to have a intermediary to buy them''
bullshit, UK law states that minors can enter any contract for goods or services that they need like food and clothing otherwise kids wouldnt be able to buy sweets from the shop, as that is classed as making a contact
i dunno about shares though, i am under 18 and realy want to invest! |

I started investing at 15, and made a lot of money. My best advice is to be smart, Talk to a investment pro at your bank they will have all the answer you need. A last little bit of advice do your research in what you are investing in. |
