thebigkahuna | In the current climate, where would be the best place to invest £15,000? |
Is there anything slightly different or risky that would be worth investing in at the minute such as gold, art etc?
Cheers. |

The best is open to debate.
The safest is probably a bank like Alliance and Leicester - putting it away for 1 year to get the best interest rate. It's safe, protected and will give you a return above inflation. If you are going to do 1 year fixed though you might as well put it into an ISA and not pay tax on the interest you earn.
Putting it in the stock market is unsafe - you don't know if it will make you a big increase or if it make a big loss in the current climate. So this would leave you with apprehension and in flux.
Government Bonds is a good option but I doubt you'll get more than the Alliance and Leicester is offering.
Putting it under the floor boards will earn you no interest so your money will be worth less due to inflation. Plus it's not protected against theft. |

the best place to invest in crude Oil and T-bond. but will you buy or sell. May be buying will give you loss or sell will give you profit. or vice versa.
so the next step is to get analysis prefect analysis upto 80%.
Every trader is investing but believe me 90% lose just because they dont know where the entry point for buying or selling gives profit.
I suggest you to get analysis Free here:

Hello,
Honestly, I do not know about commodities and art. I know a bit about real estate and I know quite well about stock and forex markets. So I will tell you about what I know.
By the way, as you likely know: never put all your eggs in the same basket. £15,000 is a nice amount of money to invest, that could allow you to try different things (unless you buy a property).
Real Estate.
The UK property market – both residential and commercial – has seen very significant price falls during 2008 and prospects are for this to continue into 2009. However, there is no massive overhang of supply that still plagues the US property market. This implies that prices may stabilise more quickly in the UK as equilibrium conditions such as the ratios of price/household earnings and rental yield/capital value are reached. I expect that the measures of housing activity (transactions) will reverse their decline by mid-2009, with prices stabilising by the end of the year. This turnaround will be driven mostly by the impact of the interest rate reductions on mortgage affordability.
Stocks.
I would say it is a good time to invest but with a really long term perspective. In my opinion, NASDAQ (that is the market I am used to day-trading in) will continue to go down. So buy stocks? If it is LONG TERM, fine.
By the way, you could make a lot of money with day-trading but that is another vast topic and it is to be used with a lot of caution. In other words, you may day-trade only if you have a system that works and if you perfectly know what you are doing. I could never emphasize that enough.
There is something else that you should know about ... It is called FOREX trading robots.
If you have not heard of a FOREX trading robot yet, then try looking for some on the Internet because these things may be the solution to your financial problems. The FOREX market is a financial market that deals with currency exchanges all over the world. Based on the strength of a particular currency, these values go up and down and fluctuate according to elements in the market, such as political, business, and economic factors. The FOREX trading robot is an application hat you need to install onto your computer that will do trading with this currencies right from your home.
All you need to start with this is a computer and an Internet connection. After you have selected and purchased a trading robot of your choice, you just need to pop in the installation CD and follow the simple instructions on the screen to get you ready for making those extra dollars.
What you need to do once you have installed the software is to choose a certain currency pair, such as the United States Dollar (USD) against the Japanese Yen (JPY). The robot will then analyze all the financial trends that happen between these two currencies. You do not even need to worry about how this is done because the software will do it all for you. A lot of expert traders have been skeptical about this at first, but after trying it, they have learned to trust it and just let everything go.
Where else can you get easy money and are free to go about wherever you want?
So, go online now and start using a FOREX trading robot to earn those extra dollars.
Forex Auto Pilot Turbo is an automated expert advisor for the Metetrader4 platform that can automatically trade on your behalf. This robot was developed by 3 IT programmers.
It's the only software of its kind that shows ongoing trade results from two live trading accounts (and not just backtesting results!) and updates them every 15 minutes.
There are many reasons why Forex Auto Pilot Turbo has hit the Forex market by storm:
• It's a true plug & play system. The only thing you need to do is set it up and let it run on autopilot.
• You are given the option to host it on a remote server, so that you don't have to keep your computer turned on all the time.
• It has been tested with real live trading accounts, not just demo accounts.
• It has very good video tutorials that can help you install the system.
• This program is restless. It can work 24 hours a day, 5 days a week analyzing the market trends.
• You don't have to be an experienced trader, you just need to follow simple setup instructions.
• They offer excellent customer service. Their team responds very quickly to any question.
• It has tighter risk controls and is designed to find more profit opportunities than any other software out there.
• There is a 60-day money back guarantee, which gives you the opportunity to buy the software, test it on a demo account for a month and return it if you don't like the results.
• This robot requires a very small investment, you can trade with as little as $50
• Its winning rate is 95.9% and its drawdown is 0.35%, when most systems have a 10%-20% drawdown.
• It uses 2 strategies to maximize profits: the scalping strategy (short-term) and the advanced strategy (long-term).
• Its risk control |

Oil commodities or oil stocks
Crude oil is heavily over sold from the sell off during the second half of 2008. Bottomed out at $35/barrel in December.
Gold or Gold stocks
Currently on an uptrend. It's where the market is currently at and going at the moment.
On the FTSE 100:
IMT - Imperial Tobacco
BSY - British Sky Broadcasting
NXT - Next
SHP - Shire
ULVR - Unilever
Diversification
Don't put 15,000 all into one investment. Maybe put 5000 each into 3 investments. I know that's stating the obvious, but it is important. |

Art is always a good thing to invest in - it is, after all, the most affluent industry in the world which a lot of people don't know about.
Alternatively, £15,000 could go into a SAFE savings account such as the Post Office who would not lose it because they don't lend, they only keep your money and let it gather interest. It could go in a Post Office ISA and if you let it gather interest for five years you could make a tidy sum! |

I think the gold market has been milked dry.
Maybe if you have invested in the past you could answer my question:
About 2 years ago I did a little research and some of the results below.. Do you think its still worth looking into?
1. I read on the internet that you could buy shares and if not happy with them, you could sell them back for same price (Within 15 seconds)
2. I have V.good computer skills and could fully automate it
3. Also the Philadelphia stock exchange went fully computerised! |

try £1 on numbers 3,17,22,23,37 & 48 on the saturday draw, £1.50 on a lucky dip for the euro lottery, 3 £1 scratchcards, send me £10,000 and use the last £4994.50 to buy the Royal Bank of scotland in it's entirety. I know that it is paying too much for the company but you will get free tickets to the 6 nations rugby... If you prefer a safer bet than those above any investment in Zimbabwe is a little safer than keeping your money in the UK. |

Stick it in your top pocket mate. At least you know you will still have it in a years time. or you could always buy euros with it. The way the pound is just now, it will be worth £2000 next year. |
