Investing Question?
I want to put money in a savings account or cd using a high interest, what is the best company that offers what I am looking for?

Joe
Consider the Vanguard Prime Money Market Fund with a current compound yield of ~4.1% APY.

If you are in a high tax bracket you may prefer their tax exempt money market funds:
https://flagship.vanguard.com/VGApp/hnw/FundsByType

Sometimes other institutions will have a higher teaser rate, but Vanguard tends to have the highest yields I've found over the long run. (Vanguard money markets are not FDIC insured, however.)

Bankrate.com provides links to CD's with high interest rates as well as high interest rate banks.

ING and HSBC often have rates close to Vanguard, and most of their products are FDIC insured. You can check these at the following links:

(If you are investing for a long period of time and are willing to accept some volatility, you should consider putting some money into no-load low-expense mutual funds. These are not guaranteed, but over the long run produce much higher returns.)

ING direct has good interest rates and easy to setup online. Normal banks like Wells Fargo, Washington Mutual, and B of A have horrible interest rates.

Neither pays very high interest. CD's pay a bit more. Check your local banks to see who is higher. There won't be much of a difference.

EmigrantDirect.com has CONSISTENTLY beat ING Direct for the past 2 years. I use them and have been VERY happy.

Your not going to find a high interest rate in today's market of declining rates. You will need to do some checking around for CD if you want to maximize your return and take no risk. You may be able to find a rate between 3-4% but they may decrease more.
