Is 1 dollar like 1 yen?
in that i can spend 1 dollar for a soda here and 1 yen for a soda there?

2 cents
no, 1.00 USD = 107.607 JPY as of today, this rate might not be the same tomorrow.

Despite the thousands of miles American Coke has to travel, it is usually cheaper than Japanese-made Coke, which typically sells for 120 yen ($1.14) in a 12-ounce can from vending machines. American Coke costs as little as 70 yen (67 cents), or 40 percent less, said Kazumasa Nagasaki, president of a company that imports American Coke. That compares with about 80 cents in the United States. ''I have never seen Japanese Coca-Cola for 70 yen,'' he added.

delta
no , that is wrong. u will have to spend abut 150 yens for a soda. at least that was thr price when i visited tokyo about two years back

no, japanese yen is much weaker against dollar.

you can't get soda for 1 yen there

Focus
Yen is around 100 times lesser than the USD.
You need to shell in more yen if u want to buy the same item.

Alice
Definitely No!!!

1 dollar is not as same as 1 yen. If in America you are paying 1 dollar for a packet of chocolates then in Japan you have to pay 100-120 for the same. Think from the point of view of Rs and Dollar. In India we can buy a beer with Rs 400 here then in US you would have to spend around $30 for the same.

no i dont think so.

Thor
Many years ago when I was in Japan I got 360 yen for a dollar. The dollar is worth much less now.
