Gambling
- to play at any game of chance for money or other stakes.
- to stake or risk money, or anything of value, on the outcome of something involving chance: to gamble on a toss of the dice.
- to lose or squander by betting (usually fol. by away): He gambled all his hard-earned money away in one night.
- to wager or risk (money or something else of value): to gamble one's freedom.
- to take a chance on; venture; risk: I'm gambling that our new store will be a success.
Speculating
- to engage in any business transaction involving considerable risk or the chance of large gains, esp. to buy and sell commodities, stocks, etc., in the expectation of a quick or very large profit.
Investing
- to put (money) to use, by purchase or expenditure, in something offering potential profitable returns, as interest, income, or appreciation in value.
- to use (money), as in accumulating something: to invest large sums in books.
Gambling? Speculating? or Investing? - trading in the foreign exchange market largely depends on your competence and intention.
If you do not know what you are doing and want to make quick and easy money in the forex market, that is gambling.
If you are very competent and want to make money in the forex market, that is speculating.
If you are speculating in the forex market and holding on to your losing position, that is investing (as in--investing in stocks for the long term in a bear market).
Hope this helps.

These definitions also apply to the stock market. |

I don't know any casino where you can place a wager under your terms of risk, and make a profit again under your terms. Plus I don't think Forex serves drinks.
To people uneducated about Forex, I suppose it could be but not to those of us that have taken the time to learn what it is and how it works.
Discipline and Patience.
