........ | Is It A Good Time To Buy Stocks? |
If anyone is into the market, do you think it would be smart to purchase stocks now or in the near future? Will the market rise, or stay low for a long time? |

If you are long term investor, yes. |

depends on what you are trying to get out of it. If you are in it for the future then now is a spectacular time to buy. Big name companies stock's are at an all time low, so right now is a great time to buy if you are investing for the future |

hands down yes. if you can afford another possible dip in the dow to 7000 or even 6500.. then for the long term.. yes buy all you can.
citi (ticker: C) for example, is a strong bank, that is now partially federally held. it has a book value of 18.1.. a discounted market value of 15 - 16 / share.. and it is trading near 6 a share....... when speculation settles down, there is a potential 10 / share gain on the med - long term outlook-
if i had any free cash, i would buy into the US economy as much as possible.. (however, i would do so carefully.. and i would not expect, but anticipate one final test of the lows) |

If you are at least a long term investor, then yes. I would say you shoud keep your investments for at least 3 years, and I will almost promise you that you will make better than a 50% return on your investment. Here is a mutual fund that is the safest: https://www.etrade.wallst.com/v1/stocks/snapshot/snapshot.asp?symbol=WFIVX
It might be a good idea to look for more bonds when we go back to 2007 levels. |

"Will the market rise, or stay low for a long time?"
Yep.
"Is it a good time to buy stocks?"
Sort of depends on what and why you are buying.
You can follow what is called technical analysis and watch the charts for price and volume, then gauge what is trending this way or that.
You could instead follow what is called fundamental analysis. Who is making money, who is likely to keep making money, who makes better money than their competition, and then compare that to what you see the broader economy doing, then by what various sectors of the economy are doing. If you figure out what is still strong, perhaps likely to get still stronger, then yes, for those companies that qualify under your sifting out screens, this will be a good time to buy. You may have to hold it a while, however, before you realize results, or you may have to dump a few when it falls out of favor with the market or the news for the company changes, but in the long run, profitable companies increase in value no matter what their stock price is at a given moment. |

Most economists think the stock market will remain volatile for a while, and a sustained rise is unlikely in the near term.
If you're new to investing, you should research the companies and/or funds you want to invest in, so you can be ready to buy when the market dips. There's no need to rush in, though. I think there could be more bad news coming out in the next few months, so you may have better buying opportunities than now. |

If you are "investing," wait until the market starts to improve. Until then put your money in something else, like some type of fixed income.
If you are looking for short term and trading, then that is completely different issue. |
