Is ShareBuilder a ligit site for buying stocks?
ShareBuilder offers several plans to purchase stocks, etc. I've never heard of it before and need to be sure it is a legitimate service.

My wife and I have sharebuilder and its a great service. We compared other services and for the new investor that isn't investing thousands and thousands of dollars each month, sharebuilder can't be beat.

The plan we have they charge a flat $4.95 per trade. We love it, especially today because we made money on all 3 of the stocks we just bought.

We have Starbucks symbol sbux
We have Halliburton symbol hal
We have Lucent tech. symbol alu

All 3 went up today and oh thats another neat thing, They have a live online stock ticker so you can see your stocks going up or down.

We had walmart but we sold it at a profit and since then it has gone down down doooooooooooooown so we don't recomment walmart.

But when we sold our walmart stock immediatly, within 2 minutes the money was in our account.

I can whole heartedly recommend them, they are a good company.

We pay zero monthly fees too. All the other ones say zero fees but thats only if you commit to trading each month.

Now if you are investing and trading thousands then I would go with another service but for folks that invest $10,000 or less per month even down to $0 per month Sharebuilder will serve you well.

Easy to understand interface and oh one more thing. We signed up all online no paperwork. The other ones were stupid the way they do it. They require you to print out a pdf document and then fill it out and mail it in. The process with sharebuilder was less than 10 min and we are online.

I've been using Sharebuilder for a little over a year and things are going good. It is a good source for someone to start if he/she doesn't have a lot of money to invest at one time.

P.S. If you do decide to use ShareBuilder, go to the store section of the site and buy a starter kit. You get some goodies as well as a money bonus when you open an account.

Yes they are. I used to be a customer. Pretty limited in there offerings. No mutual funds. Just individual stocks and ETFs. Not a bad place for setting up an IRA using ETFs.

Sharebuilder is a reputable and legitimate site. It is actually linked to the Wells Fargo Bank site and can be linked to Wells accounts. I have two accounts with them for my children and have been very happy with the service. Contrary to another post, it is one of the least expensive stock buying sites available. You can buy stocks anytime, at only a $4 fee for any amount of stock purchase. They also have no minimum account size requirements.

Never heard of them,,,but from your description we suppose they seem to make money by selling plans, right? Wherein lies their interest: making sales or .....your best interest? This you must pre-determine.

It is, but it is expensive. They charge you a fee for every recurring transaction. If you want to invest, buy one share through a broker and start a DRP which allows you to buy shares on a regular basis. Below is a list of companies that participate, and it's free...
