No Demat Account is not necessary for investing in mutual funds.
But if you have a online Demat account, then it becomes easy investing in mutual funds online.

U dont need a Dmat account for investing in Mutual funds. U need a PAN card for investments . Even a small investment like rs 500 need a pan card

demat accounts are compulsory only for trading in securities. otherwise it is only a convenience.

Demat Account is not needed to do investments in Mutual funds.

However, if you would like to invest in direct equities of the public limited companies listed in the stock exchanges, you need Demat and Equity Share Trading Accounts.

NO NEVER EXCEPT FEW WHICH ARE LISTED IN STOCK EXCHANGE & YOU SELL IT ON EXCHANGE for that case it required otherwise not

no. not at all cases invest in mutual funds u need a deamt accout but u should get the pan card from the income tax authorities
