Is anyone else out there freaking out about Target shares dipping so rpidly inthese past few days?
Today they just announced that they aren't going to meet to expected growth sales for October and have lowered their estimates. Last month they did it to and didnt even reach their lowered estimate. Anyone have some valuable input??

Oh no, so they don't grow this month!! The economy is in the crapper in Ohio and I know a number of other places as well. When I go into Target, I still see a lot of people shopping there. They'll be fine, they still are an attractive option - affordable and still pretty fashionable. They'll be alright, just like most of the companies. If we really have a recession, we might lose a few businesses, but Target will survive.

Buy a put option if you think it will continue down...

Think about target my friend just think about it. Think about all the locations target has, think about targets overall growth in the past decade. I mean there have been dips in the past but overall target has grown in stock value by nearly 7 times in the past 10 years. I wouldn't worry at all hold your stock(if you have any( and watch it continue to rise in value in the next couple years. Unless you don't belive in target as a consistenly growing company, don't be scared by little dips. Have faith my friend

If you have followed business, you should have noticed that with the housing market down, many people have now begun paying more on their mortgage as the teaser rates come due. This means that there is no incentive to borrow against one's home as has been the case for years.
This is turn means car sales are down, home builders are down, large ticket items have slowed, and most all dept. stores are reporting less than good sales. Be prepared for a slow Christmas.
Stay away from this area for now. Look into tech.

The only people worried specifically about Target are stock holders.

Many companies have announced earnings below estimates. That's more important, it reflects the state of the markets.
It's simple, a $9 trillion debt, high mortgage foreclosure rates, falling dollar value, reduced cash flow, and high energy costs equals tough times ahead for the U.S. consumer. That's worth freaking out over.

its called RETAIL!!!! Most retailer sare expecting horrible christmases. That why the sector is down and thus that is why Target (#2 in power next to wally world) is down.

Never crossed my mind, thank you!

Target's customers -- US consumers -- are getting squeezed, so they are spending less. This will continue for at least another year or two. Unless this is TRULY a long-term holding (ie, for retirement 20+ years out) get the h*ll out of this name now...HeavyD

If you can't stand volatility, you shouldn't be in the stock market. This kind of thing will alway occur.
