Just curious, since a guy from Africa tries to transfer money to my account and asked for the SSN as well.
But a friend of mine(who works in a bank btw...), says the Africans have pretty bad reputation about this...and idk.

do not do this!! its a scam! never ever give anyone that kind of info unless you are applyin for a loan, or it is your bank asking. and once you fall for something like that... its all over... you can never get it back. |

No one ever has a reason to have your SSN and bank account number aside from employers or the IRS.
Money transfers are scams. |

NEVER give anyone your bank account information. They can take every last dime out of there.
NEVER give your SSN there is a lot of identity theft that can be done.
You know good and well there is no one out there who is going to email you to tell you about the money he wants to GIVE you, so don't be a sucker.
Doesn't matter if he says he's in Nigeria, Iraq, or Canada--they are ALL THIEVES when they contact folks this way OR send a "check" in the mail. |

First off its not just Africans its people from overseas, they have this scam where they ask for banking info saying they'll send you a check or money, buy its a scam to not only get your info but send you fraud checks...Watch out! |

Your Friend is correct!
There are a lot of "Scams" coming out of Africa.
He'll ask you for your SS# and before he DEPOSITS, he'll ask you for some CASH to 'secure' his Deposit or just RIP YOU OFF!!
