Is it a good or bad time to buy residential property in the UK?
Is the market going to take a down turn or just plateau? or does it just not really matter when investing in property?

its fine if you want to get onto the property ladder. if its just for investment you're going to have to choose you're purchase extremely carefully.

Unlike what's happening in the US, the market in UK is buoyant. Houses in my part of the country are selling within days of going on the market.

Depends on where you buy, and how long you intend to keep it. if it's for investment then long term you should be okay. The so called analysts have predicted a down turn in property prices but it hasn't happened yet so unless you have a crystal ball you'll never really know!

Property prices are at record level and nearly every body is expecting a fall, whether gentle or steep, But I do not think so. Those people go by analogy with the past. But things are not the same. Now we have a huge number of immigrants coming in all the time who have no choice but to pay any price for cheap property and this then drives all property up. They alone need more houses than we are building for all.

I think house prices will keep going up until they are twice the present price and we shall be living in half the space we have now. Like the Japanese. And in the longer term, we shall have even less space. The average house is now rising by £16,000 per year. The sooner you buy the better.

If our going to invest in this country try moving up north where it is cheaper, the house prices all around the country are just going to go up and up so for little investment try the north east or Anglia and as the others have said choose wisely.

A very bad time.. but i don't see it gettin any better! House prices are sky high and it is now almost impossible to get onto the property ladder unless you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth. But if you are in a fortunate position go for places that are developing on the outskirts or cities or major towns.

I reviewed the other answers before I answered your question. It's always a good time to buy and sell if you know what you are doing. Learn how to prepare real estate purchase documents, loan documents and escrow documents. In this way, when you do find a property, you'll know the best way to acquire the property. You will then learn to think outside the box. Unfortunately, the previous answers that you received reflect people that will never think outside the box.

Dont bother. This country is a rip-off.
