Is it better to pick your own numbers in a lottery or let the computer pick them?

It is better to let the computer pick them.

Doing this won't increase your chances off winning -- but it will increase your chances of being the only person who wins. The reason for this is that you may be influenced by numbers that are not really random. Perhaps you choose numbers from the current date or an area code or the number of your favorite baseball player. Others do the same -- and all of a sudden that jackpot you won has ten winners.

Not an Investment question. Go back to the children's section and other dummies that play the lottery.

I read somewhere that most people pick their birthdates, which tend to run as high as 31, in the double digit arena.. and unfortunately, usually those predictable numbers are not the winning ones.. the article noted that it's best to pick higher numbers.. I guess, after 31 and up.

I haven't heard of anyone who won by having the computer pick their digits.

Doesn't really make a difference... they're random anyway.

What becomes a problem is playing your own numbers week after week after week. Then the one week you forget to buy a ticket and there you go... they were selected.

I saw on TV that the chances of a random number being a winner is very slim. It's better to pick your own numbers.

It's usually easier to just put the dollar directly in the garbage can. Cuts out the middle man. Or maybe just pick up a 44 oz. Coke instead.

I respectfully invoke my 5th amendment rights as my answer may tend to incriminate myself
