How much are the broker fees?

Well there are two issues:

a) the broker is gonna charge you at least at 2% fee (or 0.20) on $10.00 and plus an entrance or exit fee.

b) you might make money if you sold say millions at this margin. If you bought and sold 1,000,000 shares, than 0.5% (residual) x 1,000,000 = $50,000 - exit fee.

Jeff
Three things -

Will the stock go up to $10.25?
There is that risk.

How many shares are you planning to buy?
You have to buy enough shares so that you make more than the broker fees and income taxes take back.

If you know anything about the stock, why sell at $10.25?

If you deal with someone like Schwab @ $9.95 per trade and buy/sell, say, 100 shares you will pay $19.90 in commissions but make $25 so you can make money -- more with a larger number of shares in the transaction. BUT this is a really tough game so if you are a relative stranger to the market I'd say find another way to make a buck.

Not really - the risks out way the rewards. A stock at $10 can go to $9.50 or lower just as easily as it can go to $10.25 or higher. One wrong decision can wipe out all of your gains on several successful transactions.

Also, you example is not realistic. A 2.5% daily swing is hard to find on a daily basis.

And, obviously, to make a reasonable profit after the bid/ask spread and commission, you have to risk a lot of money to make a small profit when you are looking at profits of $0.20 or less per share.

Hi, i know what your question means. i also think stock market is a nice place for investing.

I found some useful tips in stock trading. It includes stock basics, how to protect your profit, find a potential increase share, control and manage stock risk, when to sell/buy stock and so on.

Only if you are dealing in large amounts otherwise the charges will wipe-out any gain

Day Trading is very risky investment, you have to calculate your commission, your magin costs, if it pays any level of buying and selling you can make money.

miketorse
Depends on the volume of money you are talking about.

Rockcat
It depends on how many you buy.
