Scott Y | Is now the best time to buy stock? |
Some guys at work are telling me that now is a better time than ever to buy certain stocks. I have no stocks and don't really know much about it. Im still young, just started my 401k, but I don't want to miss out on a great way to invest. |

hi
your friends are right
this is the right time to invest in stocks as the market is at its low level. i would recomend u to invest only 50% of ur money which u want to invest so tht if u see another downside then u can buy more stock at less price to make average. and if ur stock goes up then book profit if u get 10% return. and then again wait for time when u see a downside in market.
Happy Investing.
keep one more thing in mind . if ur stock goes down then dont get panic . because at this level all stocks will see its purchased price again . |

Buy low sell high they say. My advice is to invest only in stocks that are going to go up, and if they don't go up, don't buy them
The truth is you can't know, but over the long run, stocks have never been down 10 years in a row.
Your 401K is a great way to start. Put the max you can afford in a growth fund. |

Yes it is. Economy always goes through a cycle and we are now at the lowest financial performance. The better times are coming again and stocks will go up again. It will take some time and patience because it is like a rollercoaster at this time but it will get better.

There is no "better time than ever" as no one can predict the future. It certainly is "better" than it was when the S&P 500 started its recent 20% decline.
If you don't know much about investing, you should start learning. There is no reason to rush because the guys at work say so. Don't let emotion define your investing patterns.
I highly recommend you read "The Little Book of Common Sense Investing: The Only Way to Guarantee Your Fair Share of Stock Market Returns" by John C. Bogle. |

I think if you have a lot of knowledge about the market, and can stand to loose the money, than you could be in a position to gain money at this point. However, if you are a beginner, or if this money is something that you can't stand to loose, I would advise against it. |

Yes it's a good time to buy certain stocks, but not all stocks. Some stocks are great companies that just got caught and their prices got hammered along with everyone else. Invest in companies like that which are well-run and which you like the products or services they offer, and they should go up. These are the lows for those stocks, and they will continue to rise in the future. They could go a little lower as the crisis continues, but in the long-run they will be up. |

Yes. Now is the best time to "Dollar Cost Average" with your investment. Just put a little bit down at a time into your mutual fund and as it losses value put a little more in. Eventually when it comes up you will make more and more money.
