Not yet. This little episode is a bluff that gives people a false sense of security like this is the bottom. Many people are fooled right now. But just watch, after Bama gets inaugurated it will tank and the market makers will pick up more lower priced stocks...which they will sell later as the market really does rebound.

The fundamentals of the economy say the worst hasn't occurred yet...two more things will take place that are pretty scary. Commercial real estate and the state governments. The states are gonna freak out soon because it's not their nature to cut back but rather spend. With tax revenues dropping like a lead balloon, they are in trouble.

That will affect the market.

The fundamentals tell me yes. Most companies are undervalued right now simply due to consumer confidence.

I hear Woolworths might be a good choice??!

That's somewhat of an over-generalization. Shares of what? There are so many different kinds of equities and funds out there. Some are great to buy now, others aren't.

But, if pushed to make a generalization, now is probably more often than not a good time to buy- while the market for most equities is down. The market will eventually regain it's upward trend and those shares will start to gain value. But don't expect any short term miracles. If you're talking about short term market-dabbling, now's not the time. In the short term, your stocks will likely continue to look pretty dismal, but look to the long term and realize that you can get a lot of really great equities for a song right now, and most of them will turn around with the market, earning you a large return if you've got the time.

Good luck! :0)

The shares market is quite low now. It is time to buy provided you can take up shares you buy and hold until they can be sold at a profit.

Its totally down to your own research. but beware. When Northern Rock (NRK) started to go down, like their share price went from around £12 to £1. People were buying and buying and buying but now the company is nationalised the shares are suspended and the company deciding compensation due to people.

So a low price may not always be a good thing do your company research.

Nearly.Housing still reducing in value, mortgages still reducing, shops in trouble and banks not lending. In the new year spend half on stock market, and in March the rest.By then the markets will be looking for any signs of good news rather than current bad news

Windrider The New Herald Mage.
As long as you keep your investment small, now would be a good time to buy shares.

It is always the wrong time to buy the wrong shares and the right time to buy the right shares. Telling which is which is the difficult bit.
