Is panic larger than the crisis in Wall Street?

I would say that it is. The media tends to blow things out of proportion in today's world. If you look at the U.S. in respect to some countries, we're still sitting pretty well on the economic scale.

Panic is one of the contributing factors to the current economic turmoil.

Of course. Everyone is scared. Banks are closing, insurance companies are going down the drain.

Why wouldn't people panic?

I also think the news & media use it as a "scare" tactic to make everyone worried and panic.

Dash Rendaer
Panic is always a part of any wall street situation, but there are also some major underlying weaknesses in the economy that are currently being exposed. Unsound business practices were used(Sub prime loans, for example) that counted on continued prosperity with no plan for emergencies. Everyone depended on everyone else to have it together and it is having a domino effect. Alan Greenspan suggested it could begin smoothing out as early as next spring, but we are in for a rough spot.

of course.. but panic can be a good motivator of action.

In this case... run, don't walk.

It sounds like the pyramid scheme has backfired for the greedy rich buttheads. Start stocking up on spaghetti o's

Yes I think it is. I think part of the issue is the US concept of money. I mean it is really only backed by the government not gold or silver standard anymore. So the idea of what paper money is worth is tied to the idea that it is good and backed by the government. There seems to be no real tangible way of telling how much the US dollar is worth. So the fear that it is worth less or not sound can cause disruption in the markets. I know I didn't explain my idea very well but that's the best I can say it. So yes I think fear is a large factor, but there are some real issues that need addressing. I think we would be better going back on a precious metal standard myself and cut the amount in circulation. Too much US currency is out there, so that will drive down the worth of a dollar as well I think. I could be wrong I am no economist.

it looks pretty bad with huge financial institutions recently going down.

No, the crisis on Wall Street is mostly the aftermath of business practices that are more than questionable. Fact of the matter is through, if not the mortgage industry than its just a different one. Sorry to say curruption is something that seems to be part of the fabric of "business".

Markets across the world and showing red numbers as a result of the U.S. blundering. Gold jumped $106 an ounce today. I think that's an all time record. People don't trust the banks or the stock market.

The panic is smaller than the crisis in Wall Street. This is so because most Americans are busy playing video games, buying everything on their credit cards, and living high on the hog. They haven't figured out that the National debt will nearly double this year alone from the massive deficit spending in progress.

Thanks for the question.
My response is there really is no panic. You see a flight from junk in search of security & better returns. This is all predicted and, indeed, the inevitable outcome of a fractional debt financial system.
To learn more and further your research I direct you to view the DVD video "Money as Debt" or view a portion in clips from YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVkFb26u9g8

No matter what the panic is..the future crisis will be far greater. Don't worry about a possible over-reaction. Worry about THE END OF AMERICA. Ooops...AMerica already ended. Worry about the reaslization that "America" no longer exists. You must learn to call it "Hispanica". The "panic" in it...is well earned.
