Is share trading a gambling.?
give me a better results

helpaneed
No, neither legally nor otherwise share trading is termed as gambling. It is taken as speculative business activity.

Vijay S
It is the way, one approaches it. If one depends on only speculation, not based on logical workings, it is gambling. If one goes by the companies results and bases one's trading. on business logic, it is not gambling.

there are two types investing and trading.
investment in shares is not gambling, but trading is more or less gambling. It depends upon the person who handles it.

Raghav
Not really. It is a knowledge based investing that is required to make money in the market. You need to understand both the market internals and the external factors to play safe in stocks

Hi Maddy,

You are right, share trading is a legallised gambling, because when you bet on something and you do not know whether it will turn out to be a profit or loss it is gambling, yes you evaluate your chances of gaining and bet on the best ones, but sometimes the dies don't give the expected, it is your experience which matters in share trading, so be aware before you start with it.

If you think trading is gambling, then let me mention that driving a car, flying an airplane, and eating in a restaurant is also gambling. Why? Because you never know if the food you eat is poisoned or not. It could be. You never know if your airplane is going crash or not. Even if you drive safely, some drunk driver can hit you and kill you on the road. You are gambling with your life all the time. When you drive, you are taking a risk. Does that mean driving is bad? No. It is necessary.

The stock market is also necessary. Without the stock market, there would be no corporations. Without corporations, there would be no computers, no telephones, no electricity, no cars, no airplanes, no shopping malls, no nothing.

When you buy a lottery ticket, it doesn't matter which one you buy, because they all look the same. However, stocks are all different, and you can choose which one you want to buy. You can check the financial records of the company you're about to purchase, and if you do a lot of research before you buy, you can tell whether it's a good investment or not.

Do you think Warren Buffet became rich because he was just lucky? He wrote a book about how to pick stocks. Do you see the bookstores overflowing with books about how to win the lottery? No. Why? Because winning the lottery has nothing to do with knowledge. Anyone can win.

The stock market is a competition where your brain is put to the test. Earning an A+ grade in school is also a competition similar to trading. The lottery is not a competition. Even a fool can win the lottery, so lottery winners are not necessarily smarter or better than others.

A lottery winner doesn't deserve the money more than those who do not win, because winners don't do anything more than those who do not win. All they've to do is buy a lottery ticket, and one person is picked to be the winner. The selection doesn't guarantee that the winner is a genius.

However if you do make money in the stock market, you are competing against thousands of brains, and if you can make money, you deserve it. If you have done a careful research and made money in the stock market, then you deserve your reward! In the stock market, you are either rewarded for the wise decisions you made or punished for the bad decisions you made. Either way, justice is served.

If a man just buys stocks randomly like he would buy lottery tickets, then he might come to believe that trading is gambling. But just because one person doesn't realize that he is in a competition doesn't mean that trading is not a competition. Some people realize it; others ignore it and will eventually suffer the consequences...
