Learn the stock market?
How would you go about learning what goes on in the stock market?

A great place to learn about the stock market is http://www.top10traders.com - this is a free site that lets you create a portfolio of stocks with $100,000 in "play" money. Each day the site ranks the best performing portfolios, so you can see how your picks perform compared to other investors. You can read posts on investing from the best traders, as well as share your own investing ideas. There is a charting feature, so you can see how your portfolio performs compared to the S&P 500. Also, you can create your own "group" so that you can see how you are doing compared to your friends.

Here are this month's best traders:

Good luck.

Here's where I started. It's a great start with some great links. Happy Investing. You're getting into it at just the right time. The market is poised for a bearish run (stock market going down) which is the best time to buy stocks. Just wait a couple of months and the DOW will be around 12,000 and then it will rebound in the fall and winter.

Try the "Motley Fool's "Fool School" website. Easy, fun, and free. Also make a list of stocks in a spreadsheet, and track how they do over time. Some people have a gift for picking winners.

Try different websites for general informations. Then buy some books from credited investors on how to play the game. Or you can go to public library to read about them.

The question you need to know is risk and your financial situation. You can lose a lot and you must learn about your limits.

Let's put it this way, stock market is a place where you try to make money off other people and vice versa. it is gambling in a different form. Less you know, higher chance you lose.
