HuRrIcAnE cHrIs FaN | Looking to Invest in Stocks, but don't know where? |
I've recently come into a substantial amount of money from a deceased relative. I would like to invest it into stocks that would give me the most bang for my buck. I was looking to buy stock in Meryl Lynch or possibly Yahoo! but am not sure whether I should invest the money or buy a H2 Hummer. Or possibly a whole lot of squirt guns. Thank you in advance. |

If you invest in squirt guns, just make sure it's from a Chinese company. That's where all the money is for Squirt Gun Market. |

This is just my view. I think the best thing an inheritance should be used for is security for the future, not for some material items. This security could be investment for your childrens education, or retirement. Just something that your deceased relative would be proud of, if still alive.
To make make the money grow, I think you should invest it. Bershire (BRK.B), would be my choice. This is not a gambling stock, and that's a good thing. Think long term, and your goals should be achieved. But do your own research. |

If you are serious about investing, do yourself a favor and get the help of a professional Financial Advisor. That person will ask questions around who you are, and what is the money for. Your advisor will ask questions around your risk tolerance, time horizon, and then recommend a portfolio that is best for you.
Please don't take advice of the arm-chair investors on the internet. You likely have your hair cut by a licensed professional, when you go to your doctor - you expect a licensed professional. Your Financial Advisor will have a license called a series 7, and maybe more licenses. Find someone you are comfortable talking with, and who understands what you want to accomplish with your wealth. You'll be glad you did. |

Nice. Don't buy squirt guns, or the Hummer. Be smart, and invest in something tangible. If you are serious about investing, and you have the opportunity, take a look at land. Farm land. I won't write too much more since you mentioned Meryl Lynch and Yahoo, which are proven losers, but look into other options before you invest that substantial amount of money. |

First thing to do is to put about 10% in a savings account for an emergency.
Then I'd look into a Roth IRA or no load mutual funds. |
