Your assessment that it is probably time to buy stocks and hold them for a period of one year may be correct. However, given the volatility of the stock market you should be prepared to see the stocks you buy at much lower price levels before a turnaround in the overall trend may occur.

We would recommend that you restrict your stock list to blue chip and/or index stocks. The stocks listed in the Nifty and Sensex would be a good starting point. If you propose to extent the list of stocks to choose from, you may add the Nifty junior. This would give you a list of about 100 stocks to choose from.

Given the present environment, you would be required to make a judgement call with respect to which industries and service sectors would come out winning or relatively unscathed from this financial crisis.

Thereafter, given the checks and balances available through your investment system/platform; you would be required to ensure that you have a fair margin of safety available; that the stocks under study are in oversold territory and that the current market price of the stocks are below their intrinsic values.

Happy investing.

Sincerely,

Akash

Nobody can predict the market tendency. You should study well for each and every share before buying it. Better you go for any shares in Sensex 30.

I can give you some best tips without any recourse to me. Though it is your perception that the shares are 'under-priced now', I do not agree with you in full and suggest that you buy your stocks in instalments when there is a fall. For Example if Reliance Industries is quoted at 1260 today buy 25% of your original plan and again buy the next 25%when it falls further say by Rs50.

A word of caution Market may fall in December further. This my perception and reading of the market.

The list of 10 best scrips.

1) Reliance Industries Ltd.

2) Hindalco Industries.

3) Infosys

4) TCS

5) ONGC

6) Zee Entertainment

7) Tata Steel

8) Tata Motors

9) Century Textiles

10) L& T

11) Ranbaxy Laboratories

All the best to you.
