Despite the media's doom and gloom, which I think is fueling all of this, the economy has still been growing the last two quarters. You can't be in a recession when the economy is growing. |

When we have deflation, and rising unemployment, then worry about a Depression. A recession isnt even certain yet, but seems more and more likely. |

By the way economics appear will be an inflationary depression with the end of that cycle ending in a deflationary depression after more than 10 years and strong possibility of total change of government to more than likely rule under a dictatorship as most likely scenario. It is just how adults keep score in business using accounting in the game of life. Study the economic history in the collapse of Argentina a few years ago. Would probably be more violent here with possible civil war taking place as vast food shortages could happen because of inflation of food prices because of continued population growth especially from illegal cross-border economic war terrorists who then send funds to their nations. |

Hard to say weather we'll have a depression or recession. I think I've been depressed over the economy since we last had a budget surplus at the Federal Level...Since the national debt is eating up every available resource I don't know how the economy is going to stay out of the toilet. PEACE! |

I doubt a depression will happen. Not because it isn't possible but because the government has worked to help bail the banks out of their own stupidity. Also it looks like they will be doing something to add more money into the economy with either a tax break or a temporary stop on collecting income tax from the national level (probably own't stop the local government collections of course)
When you look at the situation though a lot of this is the banks fault for A) not educating people on the loans they were taking out (Leading to foreclosures) and B) allowing so many people to take out the loans at once (What were they thinking? The ARM loans were almost like asking to have foreclosure given how interest rates would increase)
If worse comes to worse some banks will have to consolidate. |

I hope we're headed for the biggest depression since 1929. This inflated, worthless, stock market has needed a BIG correction for 10 years. I'll just keep hording my gold and hope for the worst. |
