My stock has lost 10% what should I do?
I bought Yhoo at 33 dollars last week and the market just crashed. Should I take the 10% hit or hold?

Wow. If you think today is a crash, then you probably shouldn't be in the stock market. This isn't even a hiccup.

The only reason to own a stock is because you believe that the company will make money and be able to either pay you back in dividends or reinvest the money in itself and become worth more. Has anything happened to Yahoo today to make you less confident in their future ability to make money than you were last week? I would guess no. So given that, and knowing that you thought it was a good buy at $33, why don't you think it's an even better deal at $30 and buy more?

chris
Personally, I would hold. Tech stocks can be very volitile. If you aren't comfortable with big ups and downs, you're probably better off in mutual funds or etfs. You bought in at a record high in the market. It could go down even more if we have a correction.

smallbluepickles
Wow you just bought and now you want to sell after one week!?! Where is your patience? Stocks do fluctuate, as you know. Nothing stays the same. If it goes down, don't you think it will go up as well? Stocks should be kept for the long term, as I don't see any reason why you have to panic right away.

If you cannot afford a 10% loss then sell.
If you can afford a 20% loss then hold.

Sell Yahoo and buy google.

Google is a much better run company.

The past is the past.

What do you think the stock is worth? WHere do you think it will be in a months' time? If you think it will rise, keep it. If you think it will do poorly, sell it.

If you thought it was going to go up from 33 last week, why would you not think its an even better buy now? Do you know why you bought the stock in the first place?

Michael B
Hold. If you get nervous with a 10% correction, you need to find another investment vehicle.

Teacher
Hold for now. The market will rebound.

You bought at the wrong time, lady!. haha you buy low and sell high???? You shouldn't have bought those; today is the good time to buy. Ok, don't panic now! what should you do now. Do you have more money? If yes, I would buy more. Yes, more!!! I bet you it's going to grow up within a week or 2. If it goes up 2 pts, you are back to normal.

Don't Sell!!!

Good Luck!!!
