If your wife's necklace is in good condition it is more than likely Cartier will be interested in purchasing the item themselves, due to the age. If your wife does not want to sell it, then ask Cartier how much it would cost to replace, since you will need insurance to cover loss/theft. Worth a trip to London, have a spot of lunch, see some sights, give Cartier a ring first though. Good luck

Best get insured just in case. A jeweller will value it for you but may charge you for doing so. Lucky lady your wife. Don't let everyone finger it as may get damaged. Tell them they can look but not touch.
