No risk investment?
So there is always a lot of talk about a catastrophe hurting the economy. I want to know where I can invest, and not worry about losing it if <let's say> the bird flu strikes?

There's almost no such thing as a no-risk investment. There are extremely low risk investments like bank savings, CDs, and government savings bonds. I'd go with the bonds for a long-term, low-risk investment. I'd go with bank savings or CDs for short-term investments.

You can find decent returns on savings at the following places:

The only way you can reduce risk to almost zero is by knowing how to hedge your position. Hedging is exactly the holy grail that seperates the professionals that seem to survive all market conditions and the amateur that dies on the very first ditch. Stock options is one of the best hedging tools you can find in the markets today and you can read about how to use options in hedging at

hope that helps.

There is no such thing as a no risk investment. Investment is all about assuming risk. The more risk you assume; the more potential reward. Even with low risk savings account, you can still lose purchasing power due to inflation. The best thing to do is learn about risk and accept as much as you are comfortable with.

Hello as far as no risk investment there is no such thing although there are some investments that have less of a risk than others. Depending on the amount you have to invest and the amount of risk you are willing to take and what the goal of your investment is all determines what would be right for you. beware of brokers as there are alot of fees involved and if you do not have a sizable amount to invest you could end up losing a good chunk in fees alone. if you would like more information write to me at bankerbobretired@yahoo.com I will try to help you in the right direction

Invest in ETF: Exchange traded funds, or ETFs are mixed investment tools that use the trading flexibility of individual stocks along with the diversification advantages of mutual funds. ETFs have features that make them attractive to investors looking for a cheaper method to enjoy wide exposure to certain sectors of the businesses. They are similar to mutual funds but are better due to various reasons.

I'm not sure you can eliminate all risks completely. Even if you decided to sock your money away in your closet under lock and key, you would still have the risk of inflation, like moths, eating away at your buying power. If you feel that adverse to risk, then I would suggest you look at Treasury Inflation Protection Securities (TIPS). These are bonds issued by the US Federal Gub'ment and they are designed to provide protection against inflation and the safety of principal. I'm not going to promote any particular firm, but you can find some pretty reputable ones offering such securities. Finally, if your time horizon is out towards 5 - 10 years, that alone would help to mitigate your investment risks. And it would mean you could diversify across other types of investments, which would also help to reduce your overall investment risks.

Edward Jones is considered a very conservative investment company to manage your money. There is also Dean Whitter etc. for people who really don't know or don't have the time to follow their stocks. It is worth it to sit down and talk to these companies as part of your investigation.

In the last 2000 years there have been hundreds of monetary catastrophes, especially when real wealth is represented by paper money that governments decree a value on.

Real wealth has longevity and value thru good times and bad times.......I'm talking about physical Gold!

Gold coins can be bought on the net or any coin shop. I would recommend Krugerrands and not numismatic {special collectors coins} coins.
