Now at present which shares are best to invest in?
Do some research and decide for yourself. It's really a personal thing as everyone you ask would say something different.
If I had extra cash I would invest in airlines. They're getting better because gas prices are going down- the 'x' factor is whether people will have enough extra money to take vacations anymore.
I am also looking into small local banks and larger banks which gobbled up failing lenders. You have to check their balance sheets though to make sure you don't get something like Citi which lost over $20 billion the last 3 months.
Apple also has beaten nearly all sales forecasts the last quarter, but their 'x' factor is they have lowered their outlook for the holidays.
If you don't find one good company, I'd go with a mutual fund that has holdings in few of your favorite companies. You can't go wrong with a diversified mutual fund.

Investing in any single stock is rarely a good idea. Instead invest in quality mutual funds with long track records.

ETFs that invest in short-term bonds are doing fairly well right now. I've made 4.5% in about a week in one with the symbol TIP.

try options. it may be risky, but if you do enough research its really really really good. and better than straight out investing.

Try to invest in those whose prices have really gone down and which cannot go down further (according to you). Though it really depends on you in which you really believe . Indian markets can change drastically anytime.
