O.k. don't laugh at me, this is serious!?
Almost 10 years ago, as a High School graduation present to myself, I took $500.00 of my savings and invested in the stock market.
Heres' the deal though, I dont remember where I put it!

I think it was compaq computers, but I'm not really sure ( a lot happens in 10 years, cut me some slack!)

Does anyone know how I can check it?

P.S.
I now own my own music publishing company ( I write for recording artist) and I sell my own mp3s' at www.SingNika.com, if you want to stop by and show some love by downloading a few mp3s..another one of my many adventures..(I can't lose a website..well maybe the password..)

OK, if it WAS Compaq, they got taken over by Hewlett Packard a few years back, but the company should still have a record of it if you contact them. Look up contact info at www.hp.com and contact their Investor Relations office to see if that's the one. If not, unless you get statements from somebody, it's just gonna be luck for you to find out who it is. Did you use a broker to buy the stock? They would still have a record of what you bought, if you went thru them. Otherwise, you may be out of luck.

You have to admit - it is kind of funny. Just think - you may be rich!!! Call Sylvia Brown - a lady had some jewelry she hid from herself and she told her where it is. Do you have a lock box somewhere that you may have put the certificates in? You should have some paperwork somewhere. But if you're like me.....you won't find it LOL.
Good Luck!!

Wow.... I would like to know why you haven't had a broker and why you weren't getting statements. I used to work part time for an investment company during college and I know statements come once a month because I used to mail those big ol' things to each and every client of our group..... Check statements that may come in the mail. If you don't get any, that could mean you lost your money to a shady investor....

PS jagermeister9000 is a hater who is also not following the rules. Not giving an answer is reportable too, kid.... I hope the staff ignores his report! :-P

you will most likely have to check back in the history of things or think back to who you bought the stock from. I would really look into it and try to figure it out. If you invested in something smaller although it doesnt sound like you did the money could be long gone and obviously worth nothing if the business isnt alive.

No problem.

1) Did you write a check? If so the bank may have electronic copies.
2) Did the bank internally transfer the money to a broker affiliated with the bank? They may have a record.
3) Did you walk into an investment office with $500? Most will never open an account that small but if you did try to remember what town/city it was in. Maybe they are still there.
4) When was the last time you received statements? Were they possibly sent to a relative (like mom and dad if you were living at home)?

Good luck.
