Please help ..My item on ebay worth £300 is about to be sold for £10?
I do i contact other buyers so they may bid higher ..please help.
This is my first time at ebay.I have just 6 hours to contact them.

IknowNothing
Do what others do. Create dummy ID's and bid up your item. However, you may get kicked off ebay for doing this...so you just create an even newer ID.

I have only been a buyer and have gotten burned by this several times.

Songbird
This is the fact of economics--books state that an item is worth a certain amount, but the reality is everything relies on supply and demand--that the object is REALLY worth; i.e. what someone is willing to pay for it.

An item, it is stated, is worth 300 pounds, but in reality, no one wants to pay that much for it. Maybe 10 pounds is a little low, but in reality, that's what it's worth, because that's what the public who sees it wants to purchase it for.

You should have understood how eBay works and set an appropriate starting bid.

JW
You blew it by not setting a minimum price :(

EDDie
You should have set a minimum bid. You can contact other people you know to see if they can bid higher and buy the item. You cannot falsely bid the item higher. Someone genuinely has to buy it, otherwise eBay will suspend your account.

What is the item that you are selling? You should have included the link to your auction here.

They call me ... Trixie.
Unfortunately, if you did not set a reserve price, or a minimum price, you are stuck selling it for whatever the highest bid is, even if it's much less than the value. You entered into a contract when you put it up for sale, so you HAVE to sell it for the highest bid, or you will face consequences from eBay.

Pobept
you put it up for auction!
it's worth to you is unimportant!
If it sells for 10 then that's that!
next time set a starting bid price!

parsonsel
Sucks to be you. You should have put a reserve on it. Live and learn.

that's the risk of ebay

remove it from sale. pay the listing fees and relist it putting your minimum ammount as the first bid.

Ebay will contact everyone who has been overbid.
In the future, you may want to put a reserve (min amount you would like) on the item.

can you extend out the sale of your item?? If you don't list it for the max days, I think you can extend it out, if you can do that you may also be able to put a buy now or a reserve on your item. I sold some things on there quit some time ago and I beleive I did the same thing.

BoomChikkaBoom
Who in their right mind would pay more than they have to?

What you should have done is put a reserve price on your auction so that it would not sell for less than the reserve price.

Most serious bidders wait until the last few minutes of an auction, so you still have a shot at getting higher bids.

You could always pull the auction and relist the item with a reserve price, but you run the risk of being sanctioned by ebay if someone complains that you ended the auction early because bids weren't high enough.

On eBay you can set a minimum price that you'd be willing to accept, this is called a reserve price. If at the end of bidding, the reserve has not been met, you don't have to sell the item to the highest bidder. I'm not sure if you can set the reserve price when you've already listed the item. Go on eBay and look at advice for seller to find out. If that doesn't help, email eBay with the question about setting a reserve price while the listing is active.

Did you have a reserve bid? If not, I think you are stuck...If you had been a few hours earlier, you could have canceled the sale.....but needs to be 12 hours before the listing ends.

rei
or you can create another user account and bid on your own items to raise the price.

you should have put the min bid higher or put a reserve price what you can do is cancel the sale before its too late. No one will bid higher just because you ask them to do

can't you review the description? Next time set a reserve price on your item. This time you will have to cancel the bid quickly, preferably till the person has not paid you, it's less trouble. Because if someone has paid and you cancel the bid you will have to send the money back.
Don't worry, this is your first time! Don't forget to appologise when cancelling the bid, so that the buyer will not get too mad with you, and maybe will not leave you a negative feedback.

From my understanding of Ebay, you can cancel the bidding at any time, even after the time as expired.
