What is recession and how peoples act about it?

It's only a recession to those people who lose their jobs because of company cutbacks.
I you still have a job and the fed cuts interest rates so loans are cheaper and businesses reduce prices to keep inventory moving what's the problem with recession?

I think we're due for a mild slow down, it probably won't be nearly as bad as the tech wreck in 2000-2002.

Recessions simply mean that the nation's GDP does not grow for a period of six months.
When you look at it that way, a recession isn't a bad thing necessarily.
The economy does not HAVE to grow every single day. Sometimes it's best to let weak companies fail, let bad creditors fail, let bad borrowers go bankrupt, then pick up the pieces, and proceed ahead with stronger companies, stronger banks, and stronger investors who aren't just riding the coat tails of their better-prepared neighbors and competitors.
That's all you need to know about a recession.
It "thins the herd" of the weakest and the slowest.
A Depression is another story, and is not in the same league as a recession. But we are not facing the big "D" any time soon.

RECESSIONS ARE BASED ON CONSUMER CONFIDENCE(SO THEY WANT US TO BELIEVE)but i,or my friends or any aquaintences have never been polled about that--i reckon they base it on retail sales only--and only those given by various chambers of commerce--all the entepraneurs, tax dodgers would make up a significant percentage towards that--but of course they won't tell--so if there is a recession it's going to be based on the decisions of a few industry big wigs that need a tax break or want to buy some huge corporation for peanuts

Its here and its going to be even worse next year.
Indicators
- High foreclosure rate
- High interest rates
- Low employment
- The amount of money spent on Holiday Shopping is at its lowest in a decade.

My home based xmas retail business consistely did about $15K a month from september to jan for about 3 years straight. This year i havent achieved a meagre 6000 since september.

Ponteeee
we're already in a recession and it's only going to get worse. the fact that the president or any of the candidates running for office next year aren't talking about the economy is ridiculous.

The economy has been going up for a decade and a half, way too long. I believe in a recession next year or two.

I just watched the news....and the answer is....YES.

May not be as bad as it was or last as long as it did in the 80's, but everyone had better be prepared.
