To properly answer this question, more information is required:
-What do you want the money to be ultimately used for?
-When do you want to start using the money for its ultimate purpose?
-Do you not want to put the money into the stock market because of the current financial situation?
-Do you need liquidity (i.e., be able to access to the money quickly)?
-Do you have a retirement/education/debt reduction plan you are actively working on? If so, tell us more about it |

Bank it in a government bank or deposit in a well known bank like HSBC. Do not get fooled for private banks or companies which give high interest. Lot of scams have been going on in this world. |

You must launch your money for another home. But hold. Real estate price has started falling. Let this trend continue for some time. Once there is a reverse swing, which is bound to occur, you should think of that. Best option is going for a small piece of land. How small? It depends on many things. But around 5000 sft should be ok, even if you can jointly purchase with a friend. The place should be within or in the close vicinity of your home town. You should always avoid places of turmoil, like West Bengal, J&K, Assam (and all other NE states), Bihar, UP, MP, Jharkhand, etc. You may sell it when it appreciates or keep it with boundary walls and all for your future settlement. To me Gujarat might be a good option. |
