Should I invest in the dirt cheap high risk Wamu stock?
Wamu is at $.03 a share after being over $3 a couple days ago. Is it NOW worth the risk to invest in it?

Wamu is at $.03 a share after being over $3 a couple days ago. Is it NOW worth the risk to invest in it?

EDIT: I am not planning on putting any money I need in it. I was thinking of doing as someone said below, putting about $300 in it to go for a big gain.

So I'm wondering, is there somewhat of a chance Wamu doesn't go under or would i be completely throwing away $300?

Only if you want to lose the three cents per share (plus transaction costs).

They filed for BK and they are worthless...I owned 300 shares of common for years and now..I lost all that.
If you want a low stock with a potential try investing in freddie mac stock http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=fre
They were bailed out a few weeks ago and their stock is slowly rising. I purschased their stock whenit was under abuck and now i basically doubled my investment in just a short few weeks.

Obviously this stock is not worthless...I bought 100,000 shares and have mabe almost 10k in profit in 2 days!!

Now, having said that, don't go max your cards and invest all you have. Wamu's stock is with its holding company, which is in ch 11 bankruptcy, and was the part NOT bought by JP Morgan. So it is NOT dissolved, and DOES have some financial backing based on the holding co.'s assets, which seem to be more than initially assessed.

The stock is now over the counter, and will probably never reach much more than a dollar (optimistically), but at the current .14/share, there's a lot of margin for profit here.

Best advice: invest money you're ok with risking, and watch it frequently. I expect to see it hit at least .20 this week, but not sure how quickly it will move from there, or in which direction. The bailout should help initially.

Good luck, hope this helped, and shame on the commenters that give advice based on speculative thoughts that have no base or logic!!!!

Good Luck!!!!!!

It depends on how long you can hold on to the stock. It will be ok, but time is the only thing that is on its side. As Susie Orman says, if you have cash buy now, but be patient on your return. This will be OK, but only with time, one to two or three years from now.

Only if whatever you invest you can afford to lose and you won't care if you lose it. Pretty much all that is left of WaMu are underperforming assets (foreclosures, etc.). I guess at three cents, you could throw $300 at it and pick up 10,000 shares for the heck of it (expect to lose the $300, but maybe you could put a 6 cent sell order on it and double your money ;)

Dane
NO!!! Wamu is being sold.

Are you mad? invest in a company or business you can actually control, the stok market is like having enough money to buy a mercedes benz and then give to an average cab driver to see if he can squish some money out of it or he will just crash it and I can lose all my money. Another great example, get a beautiful girl, marry her, spend thousands in spa, designer clothes and makeup to then give it to a pimp, just to see if he will get me some cash out of her or will give me back a preagnant crack sniffer? Can you see my point, if the AMAZING companies you are thinking in putting your money in were so AMAZING, they wouldn't need your money, invest it in a real business you can see, feel and control, I kind of think that Waltmart has already too much money to be needing yours, but again, if you are the kind of person who follows Paris Hilton intinerary, watches MTV and Sex in the City, I have no opinion then, I hope my answer helps.

WAMU has been delisted. It is basically worthless.

OMG don't make any investments right now.
