Should I purchase stock now since they are so low?

I've been telling people not to purchase for the last 6 months or so (even on Yahoo).

Now the market has dropped so far, that there are finally some good deals available. It may drop farther (7200-8000) or it may start heading back towards 10k tomorrow. If you are a worrier, than wait a little longer. If not, you can invest 1/3-1/2 of your money now, and then wait a week or two to invest the rest. Whatever you do, stay away from financial stocks for at least a year. Nobody really knows what they own, so nobody knows what they are worth.

BTW, if you do buy stocks, you should sell most of them when the DOW reaches 10k-11k again.

Break it down. If you have $1000 Buy $250 this week, then $250 next then ...

This way if it goes lower, you buy more if it goes higher, you are already making $$$.

SIRI and ETGF are 2 stocks that are very high risk, even higher reward.

Good luck

While the market is in freefall, I would not advise buying any stock. Stocks are very cheap now but the risk of bankruptcy still exists for many existing firms. If they go bankrupt, you lose as an investor. If you feel a compulsion to invest, choose a very large, well known company outside the financial sector that has good capitalization and good fundamentals.

Wait.....people should wait at least to the beginning of next year. or more toward the summer time.....that is if things don't go any further.

yes!!!!Try cheap penny stocks, like wamu, which dumb people think they no longer exist, i just bought 100 shares for 11 cents a piece . so if they do go under you lose 10 bucks if they go back up to 42 buck in a couple of years from the govt bailout plan then you did really well. also $5 stocks and under to watch is wachovia, gm, ford, blockbuster, any type of bank/financial institution, royal bank of scottland, and definately fannie mae and freddie mac. good luck.

I Buy And Sell Houses
Price has nothing to do with whether to buy. The question is: Are stocks now a good value?

Some are and some aren't. GM is at the lowest price in decades. Problem is, GM's going bankrupt. Unless the government bails GM out (which it'll probably be forced to do), You can buy all the low-priced GM stock you want...and lose all your money.

Other stocks are good values.

Still, I'd probably wait a few months.

Hope that helps.

Buy low and sell lower. The market has not bottomed yet.

Well here is the thing. Even though most stocks are currently down they may and probably will drop down further before the y go back up.

So if you can afford to put money pretty much at 100% risk, then purchase away. Basically if you are willing to LOSE your money, then purchase. There's no guarantee you will lose your money, but the market is extremely risky, even more so now than normal.

i have some capital as well right now, so i was wondering the same thing. I was told yes, or even wait till DOW drops to 7500-8000. someone recommended to jump on GM since its trading at its lowest since 1950's. i like that statistic. Hopefully that helped

If you want all your money gone, go ahead
