Theoretically, but the Dems have to focus on what is best for the country and not "punishing" the GOP |

Historically speaking, the answer would be "no".
The economy suffers either way, Republican or Democrat, because you're dealing with two extreme ideologies that have opposing views on how money should be acquired and distributed. The budget keeps getting swapped back and forth, and nothing really improves or degenerates except for brief periods, and it all balances out from decade to decade. |

Truth is that is will make little difference. An increase in minimum wage will have the effect of boosting the income of kids, but will do little to help the economy.
A tax increase of any kind will have a negative effect on the economy.
Increasing the drug benefit for seniors will have the effect of increasing drug costs for small employers and individuals which will not be good for the economy.
Increasing public benefits will have a drag on the economy by incentivising people not to work, which will create more openings for illegals to work. That will also burden the economy.
It is hard to think of any area where the Dems will have positive impact on the economy. |

there will be no less money spent, and the taxes wont change much either, so there will really be no net difference there. Some laws may or may not be changed that would cost some companies a couple extra pennies, but could also be a way for some other companies to make extra money. I foresee politics as usual, when the dust settles there wont be much change. |

I doubt it. Democrats support government welfare programs. Things such as free medical care and free college education. These have a tendency to hurt the economy. Both require huge amounts of money which could only come from big budgets cuts (which would never happen) or raising taxes (which could definitely happen). It has been shown time and time again that the private sector is much more effective then any government controlled program. Rent control is a sure way to ruin a neighborhood and you could easily earn 5 times the amount you receive from social security if you invested it yourself. So you see the government will be wasting money that would otherwise be fueling the economy |

hahahahahahahahahaha! I disagree with the statements above me...Democrats like to "give a man a fish" and conservatives prefer to "teach a man to fish"....which do you think is better for us in the long run? |

Absolutely!
The Republican insistience on tax cuts only hurts the economy in the long run. Theirs is an irresponsible system that allows for corruption among contractors and cares not about the welfare of average Americans or the future.
Democrats use a more whollistic approach that sees the larger issues and works to address them. They do not pursue the "instant gratification" of huge tax cuts and encourage the system to consider future consequences. |

Dems dont want to give Bush credit for an outstanding economy and I guarantee they will screw it up before 2008.... |

History shows that when the Democrats are in office they increase spending and giveaways. They think the only way to pay for it is raise taxes. Bush has lowered taxes and the economy has done very well. Expect taxes to rise especially if Democrat is elected president. |

Lets hope so, It can get worse but it is not likely.
The sad hard truth is that such a division exists is the real
travesty.
We point and blame and kill and thats not just what we do to other countries. We are supposed to be the UNITED states of America. |

Look in spite of of who goes on, we all recognize one thing, and that’s budget expenditure will have a rapid increase.
Regardless weather its War or Public cremation, the efficient use of resources may seem to boom our Economical Development, but in years time we will accumulate exceedingly little money to splurge.
Especially with Democrats striving to compose Free Medicare we will have a Rapid Increase in Tax rates. This need has gained urgency for the many Americans who are fearful of losing their employer-sponsored insurance in the midst of a recession. Unfortunately, the President's plan will not only endanger the U.S. economy, but millions of patients as well.
The fundamental problem is that the President and congressional leaders lack realistic plans to control the health care costs that are already crippling U.S. global competitiveness. As a percentage of GDP, our businesses spend roughly 70 percent more on health care than competitors in other developed nations, yet we hardly receive 70 percent more in real value. Health care costs also distort the efficient allocation of labor.
