Should i short sell the entire stock market?

You can short the S&P and some of the other indexes. I wouldn't do it unless it was a hedge against a significant long portfolio. Don't forget, you'll have financing costs on the short side.

If you think it's going to go down, go for it. You'll either be right or wrong.

Quixotic
Sounds like a bad idea - I think this bull has a lot left in him.

Your #1 fan
I don't think you own the whole stock market.

Yardbird
My Grandpa always told me: Don't bet against a bull market.

yeohbiz
Think you should. What goes up has to come down. And it has gone up way too high to be buying into it right now.

emucompboy
Answer: NO. The entire market is not declining. We are not in "bear" mode.

You need to identify the segments that will decline the most, and then short those.

Dan D
Only as a hedge. The market is still trading with a PE of 16-17. 12 is generally considered to be cheap & 22 is getting into the range of overvalued. In other words, we're right in the middle of the range & knowing the market's general direction is up it makes sense to be long right now.

Shorting the entire stock market would force me to question your intelligence.

Thin Kaboudit
Sounds like a great way to end up in debtor's prison.
