| Should people start a black weekend over the higher prices? |
like no shopping for a weekend that might help some prices go down. |

I think it will happen anyway....people are beginning to run low on money and are running out of places to borrow from.....If you have no money, you don't spend which causes other people to not earn money who also cannot spend, again, and again, in a vicious cycle.....this is how the Great Depression went back in the 1930's......only the spending by the Govt on WWII put factories to work and gave people new cash to buy reversing the trend...will we now go back to war somewhere else?...will the Govt hire millions to walk through the forests and pick up sticks?.....mighty treacherous times that we live in....cheers. |

What exactly will a Black Weekend resolve? People need, or think they need, certain things to live comfortably. So, if they planned to participate in a Black Weekend, many would just stock up on Thursday or flood the stores on Monday. There might be some great clearance prices at places like Wal-Mart, where they count on the inventory moving fast, but this would only last for a week and then prices would go up even higher to help offset the loss. What people need to do to help lower prices is to become more responsible and accountable citizens. Know who you are voting for and why and show up to the polls intent on making a difference. If you think your one vote doesn't count, then how can you expect your two days of not shopping to count? Watch for and help prevent theft in your local stores and markets. Pick up merchandise that has fallen to the floor, don't just trample on it. Be more selective and less impulsive with what you buy and plan on keeping it. If you must return it and it is not defective, then return it in a condition that can be resold rather than destroyed by the store. Stop returning items that cannot be resold, such as makeup, food and over the counter medications because these items must be destroyed and that is also driving our costs up. Stop buying, completely, from the companies that are leading the price hikes. For example, Libby's raised the price of canned veggies to 76 cents a can. Suddenly the price of all the other brands of canned veggies are following suit. Stop buying Libbys entirely and they will be forced to lower their price again and the other brands will be forced to lower theirs as well. Look around, be aware, and start affirmative action as opposed to a meaningless boycott. |

good answer from rho...but it would make some kind of a change...especially if there were guidelines to follow like...stock up using designated products or just use what you have in house |

1. Everyone should ask their employer for a pay cut. 70% of the cost of goods is labor costs.
2. Boycott anything made with union labor. Unions pay their workers a 40% premium over the rest of the workforce.
3. Boycott anything made in America or Europe. They pay higher wages compared to the developing nations. |

No ! We should ask for pay increase instead because inflation cannot be justified by price movement since it has been induced. However, bilateral or international trade agreement may counter the price increase like import duties for good and services or taxes. I go for pay hike! |
