I would like to suggest getting your CDL and driving a truck. My husband and I do it and I alone make more than double my income from my last job at which I was at the top of the ladder with my skills. He also makes the same as I do, so together we do OK.
Getting your CDL doesn't require money up front, but does require a commitment to the trucking company who sponsors you, and about 3 weeks time of school and no pay. That may not be something you can deal with, but after you get even 2 months driving over the road (all states) you can begin making good money.
One final thought is that "good money" to me may not be the same to another here. But for someone who skipped college... making $35,000 on the low end and $55,000 on the mid to high end isn't bad to me. I have been at my company 7 months and drove for the company that trained me 1 month and paid off my contract with them. I alone make in the middle of the scale above already and am home every weekend for 2 days.
