Only the best of the best of day traders do consistently better than the average annual growth of the stock market, so unless you are extremely educated and talented, you might as well invest and let it sit. |

It is a difficult road but I can simplified it for you. Don't let any investment sink more than 10 percent from where you bought it. Warren Buffett says rule #1 don't lose your principle. Rule #2 Don't forget rule #1 Buy and hold is dumb money. The hardest thing to do is admit your mistake and sell. Rember BUY AND HOLD IS DEAD |

Buy a good stock.
When it goes up, sell it.
If it doesn't go up, don't buy it. |

I recommend being very careful with your money. I put in many hours of study and eventually moved on to paper-trading, losing consistently in that. So- I recognized the handwriting on the wall and never graduated to real-time trading. I've yet to meet a winner in day-trading- or futures trading of any kind. I've met and personally know several losers. I recommend paper-trading to see if you can make money first. Most people I know skipped that step and lost a lot- $10,000 to $30,000+. We gamblers seem to be drawn to this style of investing- playing the markets and striking it rich- a modern version of "gold fever"- it's very exciting-and just as elusive. Be smart and Good luck!!! |

The best advice that I can give you is not to invest any more money than you can afford to lose. Day trading is perhaps the riskiest of all investments and more people have lost money than made it. If you have money to invest short-term invest it in your education and in your own business. What sense does it make to give your money to a company who could end up losing it for you? Believe in yourself and your skills. So many times people get caught up in the dreaming and gambling of a "sure thing" with day trading as they do with horse racing and other "picks." Stop the insanity. I don't want to see you on the next episode of CSI. |

You don't say anything about your experience. You should have several years of experience trading in a slower style so you understand your broker's platform and order types and have experience in different types of markets.
You need a minimum of $25,000 in a margin account to start (FINRA and SEC rules) |

In a word: Don't.
I have been in this business for decades...I can count on two hands how many "Day Traders" made it through a complete boom & bust cycle ahead of the game (with a profit greater than a salary for an equivalent time spent on WS)...and all of them started with at least a million dollars and years of experience.
Do not kid yourself: Wall Street is a business, full of hundreds of thousands of people around the world trained in the game with tools that cost a fortune paid to do nothing but turn a profit by the end of the day. These are the people you are competing "against." Without an inside game, connections, and skills your neighbor (rather than your mother) admires, they will beat you in the end...every time.
Don't get me wrong...investing is fun and worthwhile. Learning about money and wall street is helpful. I am not at all against leaning, research, and healthy competition. However, EVERY get rich quick & easy pitch is a con. The average Joe cannot open a trading account at Schwab and turn $5k into $5MM in three years day trading. |
