Stock Traders: What is the most profitable style (in your opinion)?
Personally, I only have the money to work on a few position trades at a time (don't have the 25k needed for trading account), but I am studying all styles of trading in case I like to adapt in the future. What do you think is the most profitable style (ex. position, swing, pattern, etc.) and why? For reference, assume trade commissions are just a few dollars a piece if you do them in bundles or get price breaks from the brokers. Thanks!

"There are no gifts on Wall Street."

With proper discipline and money management, swing trading.

IF you do not have the discipline or money management skill, the next is long-term or position trading.

HOWEVER, its up to you to still maintain the discipline to continue watching your positions and making the proper entries, targets, stops and exits.

Even with a very low commission per trade, with less than 25,000 it would be very difficult to make money actively trading stocks. The fees and commissions simply eat you alive.

Buy and hold would be your best strategy, and look for high-yielding (high percentage dividend) stocks with good growth potential.

If you're okay with a higher risk, look into smaller cap stocks. Finding high growth potential is possible for small time investors by looking into small, local brands that are in good position to expand or the target of a buyout.

This is a particularly good time to buy into some smaller financials, as many have healthy balance sheets, pay strong dividends, and are trading at an unwarranted low price.

The most profitable trading style is one that fits your personality and your skills the most.

It's something every trader needs to discover for himself and herself.

Active trading is nuts for your savings. You will be totally wasting your time and likely under preform the market. Lots of research shows all returns are based on picking your asset classes. So, figure out how much risk you are willing to take and invest in indexes, bonds, and commodes. If you have lots of free time and want to have fun trading set aside a play portfolio with money you don’t mind losing.

Well personally I would tell you to trade options where a gain of 40% in 1 day is very frequent. But if your only going try to trade stock swing trading w/ technical analysis is the way to day. Visit my blog where I'm turning $10,000 into 1 million with the help of swing trading and options. I'm up 110% in 3 months.

Up up to $21,031 in 3 months. Thats 110% in 3 months!!!!!! visit http://tradingaddiction.blogspot.com/

The purpose of this blog is to show the power of the financial markets, and in order to demonstrate this I'm going to turn $10,000 into $1,000,000 in 2 years or less using various financial instruments, but mostly options and stock. This formula should help show how this is going to be possible

Vn= 10,000(1 + .20)^26 Vn= 1,144,755

http://tradingaddiction.blogspot.com/

basically this means that if I can earn 20 percent each month in 26 months (2 years 2 months) I will have generated $1,144,755. So my goal each and every month is to generate at least a 20 percent gain.

I am somewhat of a hybrid investor but I rely mostly on technical analysis, and my favorite investment vehicle would be stock options.

For me it's been trading options. For instance: My brother began acquiring shares of VISA when it became public. Currently he owns four shares. He's owned it three weeks as of today. At the close yesterday he had made $13 on his four shares. I don't own any VISA as it hasn't come down to meet my entry point, I do own one option on it though that I bought last week. At the close yesterday I have netted $37 a 107% return on my investment. I swing trade, trend trade and pattern trade. When you play options as opposed to owning stock, you can make money irregardless of market conditions. Sure there's more risk, you can't make a profit if there's no risk. More risk = more money, simple.
