Investing in "individual" stocks takes a lot of time, knowledge, and patience. As a beginner I personally would suggest you start with mutual and index funds from a company such a Vanguard. These are much less risky especially for beginners.

Before you go putting any money into the market, read up on what you're getting into first. And get opinions from multiple sources as well, seems like everyone has a different opinion about the market.
And when you are ready to invest, don't put all your money in at once. Gradually put money into the market (either by buying a mutual fund or stocks). This ensures that you're not buying everything at the top. |
