but SSO is only $36.24
UPRO is $136.78
For one share of UPRO, you can buy 3.77 shares of SSO?
Meaning for $136.78 investment money, you can produce 3X SP500 using UPRO.
But you can produce 7.55X SP500 using SSO?
Am I correct?
If so, why would one use UPRO instead of SSO???
I really wonder. Please share your knowledge.

Returns are measured as a percentage invested, so if the same amount is invested UPRO will give a higher profit if the S&P 500 goes up and UPRO will give a greater loss if the S&P 500 goes down.
Example:
Last Friday the S&P 500 closed at 1,089.41. Assume at that time John bought 13,678 shares of SSO and Jane bought 3,624 shares of UPRO. Both would have invested 495,690.72. If the S&P 500 goes up 5% to 1,143.88 John and Jane would still own the same number of shares, but John's shares would have increased 10% in value to 545,259.79 wile Jane's shares would have increased 15% in value to 570,044.33. |
