The stock market is low...I have $50,000 to invest.?
What stocks should I buy. It look like Chesapeake Energy Corp. (CHK) is real under priced. Do you think I can buy it up at $11.00 and it will go back up to it $79.00 high.... in two years?

BUY stocks that will get
FEDERAL FUNDING!! they are guaranteed to go up

Based on that last presidential debate:
Barack Obama said he will fund domestic automakers in detroit ($25 billion).

Also McCain: “You’re running ads how I oppose federal funding for stem cell research. I don’t...I support the funding”(so both want to fund it...check STEM & ASTM)

im gonna give you somre advice if your looking for long term go to your bank give them some cash and have them invest it
however if your looking to play the market then split your money into 5 groups
each group should go into different industries such as

Aerospace/Defense - Major Diversified
· Auto Manufacturers - Major
· Biotechnology
· Business Software & Services
· Chemicals - Major Diversified
· Communication Equipment
· Conglomerates
· Diversified Computer Systems
· Diversified Investments
· Drug Manufacturers - Major
· Electric Utilities
· Food - Major Diversified
· Industrial Metals & Minerals
· Major Airlines
· Major Integrated Oil & Gas
· Money Center Banks
· Property & Casualty Insurance
· Semiconductor - Broad Line
· Telecom Services - Domestic

there are many more these are just a few anyways then set a goal say a stock is 1 dollar and you set a goal for 3 dollars as soon as it hits 3 dollars sell because if you get greedy it will hurt you.

also do your research look at weeks average gains opens and closes and 52 week averages it will help
also watch the news if the news is reporting good things on a stock you will want to buy it

Do NOT look at a former high for a stock in determining whether it is worth buying. Many of the dot com stocks that peaked in 2000 never made it back up or anywhere near it.

Altho the market is low now, my bet is that we are in a bear market and it will not bottom for some time.

Read IBD, the newspaper, for an education--and no, I'm not connected with the paper in any way..

Hi Kilroy Y,

You have some good advice here. I'm with those that would invest in tangible items at the moment.

Property is always a safe bet at these times and following Hurricane Katrina not only is the whole area being rebuilt the government are throwing in all kinds of grants.

I found this out through the link below. Its an English based company with US and worldwide connections so you may want to check it out through them or another source.

Good Luck

Sit tight and consider buying tangible assets like gold and silver bullion (not ETFs). With huge bailouts on the horizon, brace yourself for some serious inflation coming soon. Gold will hold its value and rise with inflation. It has had a recent dip in price and a good time to buy! (I just doubled up on my stock over the weekend)

Not a good time to invest. Sit tight on your cash, you will get another chance to enter. Never invest in one stock

Investing in one stock is much too risky. Can you say Worldcom? Enron? Don't invest in just one stock. If you are wanting to invest for at least 4-5 years, Find a good growth mutual fund and invest it there. Look at the track record and be picky. There are some out there that perform well even in difficult times like the current. Mutual funds will diversify the investment and reduce the risk.

Dude, with the way the stock market is looking, and considering that this was the initial cause of the Great Depression, I'd put that $50,000 in my matress or somewhere safe. You're going to risk losing it all and wish you hadn't.
