martyhorn | Think about it. A poor person buys $50 and they pay an extra $3.50. Doesn't that extra 3.50 hurt? |
Doesn't that hurt those who work hard and only make $900 and month? Come on!! You really think they are lazy because they only make $900 and month? Get real. Find out whats really going on in Florida for the rich who don't do anything but sit around all day and invest. I have no respect for these lazy rich who don't do anything but make money. |

I am sorry you don't respect people because they have out smarted you.
Most people on this site don't care how you feel, they're here to help others or find out how they can better themselves.
Maybe if you weren't so lazy or could be one of those rich people just sitting around, but apparently you don't have enough ambition to do anything about except sponge off of others. |

I call BS on the game analogy. Those with money, property, and investment use far more of government services and don't want to pay for them.
For example the Greedy Old Pharts (GOP) complain that lawsuits for personal damages, mainly medical, are tying up the courts.
But in reality 70%!! of all civil claims involve corporate contracts. But they don't pay their share for "tying up the courts".
Their companies and trucks do more damage to the roads than all the cars. Their businesses williness to rip off the consumer or employee requires huge regulation to protect ALL of us. And so on
A progressive tax rate is more than justified. The idea that it is a redistribution of wealth is another Republican myth.
-----------------
The $3.50 is not explained and makes no sense.
I worked thousands of hours of overtime to accumulate my money and I work just as hard investing it. The money I invest is what drives the business and provides the jobs YOU may want.
If I own shares in the company for which you work I am your employer. Who owes whom? |

Huh? What is the question...... |

As with the other posters, I don't understand the $3.50 reference. What I will tell you about investing, is that it involves risk. So those who invest to make money could potentially lose everything (thus making them poor). What most people do is invest their savings. They manage their risk and hope to earn some money above what a simple savings account would offer. But if an investment is a loser, they earn enough money or having enough cash on hand to pay the bills.
So naturally, wealthy people have more money to invest and are better able to recover from losing investment. Also consider that our economy relies on stock investors to provide capital for new and growing companies. These companies provide jobs thus giving poor people the opportunity to find better jobs and thus become rich themselves. |

Why are you so bitter towards those who have and can handle their $?
What unwise financial decision has turned around and bitten you in the *** lately?
Instead of whining on Yahoo, educate yourself and work to get into a better position. |

Couldn't you just skip a pack of cigarettes, or maybe a lottery ticket, and make up the difference? |

What? For what are they charged an extra 3.50? You may be trying to make a point, but you are not making sense with this question. Please provide more detail if you want better feedback. |

lol, I don't have any respect for people that take money someone else earned (via government force).
And many of those investors are responsible for a lot of the charity that takes place (forced and voluntary).
This is pretty interesting:
This is a great explanation of the tax rebate program recently enacted by Congress. If you don't understand how it will work maybe this explanation will help:
50,000 people went to a baseball game, but the game was rained out. A refund was then due to the ticket holders.
The team was about to mail refunds when a group of Congressional Democrats stopped them and suggested that they send out the ticket refunds based on the Democrat National Committee's interpretation of fairness.
Originally the refunds were to be paid based on the price each person had paid for the tickets. Unfortunately that meant most of the refund money would be going to the ticket holders that had purchased the most expensive tickets. This, according to the DNC, is considered totally unfair. A decision was then made to pay out the refunds in this manner:
People in the $10 seats will get back $15. After all, they have less money to spend on tickets to begin with. Call it an 'Earned Income Ticket Credit.' Persons 'earn' it by having few skills, poor work habits, and low ambition, thus keeping them at entry-level wages.
People in the $25 seats will get back $25, because it 'seems fair.'
People in the $50 seats will get back $1, because they already make a lot of money and don't need a refund. After all, if they can afford a $50 ticket, they must not be paying enough taxes.
People in the $75 luxury box seats will each have to pay an additional $25 because it's the 'right thing to do'.
People walking past the stadium that couldn't afford to buy a ticket for the game each will get a $10 refund, even though they didn't pay anything for the tickets. They need the most help. They are either lazy or think that society owes them for just being born. Sometimes this is known as Affirmative Action.
Now do you understand?
If not, contact Representative Nancy Pelosi, Senator Ted Kennedy or Senators Hillary Clinton or Barak Obama for assistance |
