Crazed dogs?
Up and coming mutual funds?
I'm 20 years old and have about $4000 I want to invest. What are some good up and coming mutual funds with a great future outlook.

$so fresh so clean$
The best thing to do would be to fully fund a Roth IRA, and for this tax year, you have just enough there. With an IRA, you'll be funding your retirement at a great age (wish I had started when I was 20.)You will be getting a good mix of growth funds, income stock funds, bond funds, international funds, perhaps an index fund, and probably a money market as you get closer to retirement. T. Rowe Price, Vanguard, and Fidelity are great companies to look into. T. Rowe Price offers true "no load" funds, meaning more return in your account. They have what are called target funds, meaning you simply select your retirement year and choose a fund that its closest to your expected retirement year (mines is 2051, so I would choose the 2050 fund.) (born after 1960, retirement age is now 67, before 1960, still 65)

'Up and coming mutual funds' are not really a good bet simply because they have no track record. Why not stick with some proven winners with long term track records. Are you looking to fool around or be serious and make money? Please read my profile and send me an email so we chat some more about this.

Lot's of money to be made overseas, developing countries. Very good opportunity when a proven manager opens a new fund. New funds are more nimble and can get big gains compared to billion dollar funds. These 2 are fairly new, run by proven managers. Both have good global exposure.

I think overseas is a better bet than US domestic right now. Here are three region-specific funds to check out: FLATX, FICDX, and TRAMX.

There are also a number of more geographically diversified funds, like FDIVX.

CGMFX... active, astute, fund manager...very good record.
Or Fidelity's emerging mkts fund: FEMKX, put $2500. there and a few shares of the ETF's EWA and XME...( Australia and " metals"...feeding off the fantastic growth rate of China and India)
Barring some global disaster ( in which case Nothing will make money)...you could easily see 20% gains in a years time.

Some good suggestions above. Mine is FAIRX, the Fairholme Fund run by the great investor Bruce Berkowitz. It's well positioned for a normal market or for tough times.

Primecap Odyssey (POAGX) comes to mind. Dont know what the minimum is though.
Check out the Wisdom Tree ETFs. Theres some interesting stuff there. Hopefully you are willing to buy and hold for longer periods because some of these make wide swings over short time periods.
