you can invest it anywhere...it is just not safe at all to do it because our ECONOMY IS IN THE CRAPPER. ummm.....safely...lets think...piggy bank....mattress....wallet....savings acount...CD is about the riskiest your gonna get right now.
but really...if your working where 401k is an option or any investment plan now is the time to get in. i would wait untill YOU think the market is gonna start going up and then get in, but to be completely honest, no one knows where the market is going right now.
if your thinking about stocks, think utilities because people need those. dont go anything risky like GM or luxury coorporations because they arent doing so hot right now.
CD's could yield upp to about 5 percent depending on how long you put it in for. However, your bank only insures you up to 100,000 dollars so idk how you are financially but just keep that in mind. With the way were going right now you can never be too sure.

If you want to be absolutely safe, go try taking some CD's out of your bank. The money will go slow. With risk comes higher return and if you want something that is on the other spectrum, you can check out Forex. |

An investors has to choose between high return high risk and low return low risk.
If you choose high risk then you have a chance to get decent return. You could invest in shares, mutual funds, index funds, real state and so on. It is easy to place your money with a fund manager at a company and he will invest it for you. But choose your fund manager well.
You could invest on your own using a broker but the danger of making costly mistake is there. But if you succeed the return will be higher than for a fund manager.
If however you are unable to tolerate high risk then a cd and bonds will be good for you.
their is no high return low risk investment. If their is one it is a scam.

You can invest in the stock market if you are daring. I would invest in entertainment, go out and offer to co produce a movie, stake your money on a cafe coffee shop, If you don't have the proper amount to do any of these things then why even think about investment at this point in our dwindling economy? |

Depends on what you mean by a good return. Try GICs or bonds, but the stock market is still volatile. But with greater risk comes greater potential for return - up to you to decide. |
