Steve J | Wal-Mart----What will happen to it 40 years down the road predictions? |
Look at K-Mart is used to be the big dog and it's practically dead, So what will happen to Wal-Mart |

JC Penney, Sears, and K-Mart...they are all a small fraction of the empire they used to be. Mismanagement, market changes, Internet shopping, consumer preferences and competition all contributed to their reduction in power. Wal Mart, like those before it, will become "too big for their own good". Someone will find a better way and the Wally World monopoly will crumble like the rest.
Also, people get tired of the same thing all the time. Malls and mega malls were "THE THING" in the 80s and now many are just rusting away and falling in on themselves. I can't even remember the last time I was to a mall. I think many Americans are already disenchanted with the Wal Mart Way. It might not even take 40 years. |

K-Mart did the same thing that Penny's did several years ago. When a manager started getting close to being able to retire they would put the pressure on so as to run them off and not pay benifits. Now that Sam is gone the accountants will talk Wallmart into the same thing. It looks good on paper but they don't realize that your co is no better that the people that work there. From the stockroom to the manager. Watch and see. |

They will be practically dead in ten years. Some other company will take over and Wal-mart will be barely exisistent.
There are lots of towns that ban them, already. It's a cycle with all these businesses. They're all hot and on top for a while then they fizzle out and can't keep up with the competition. That's my prediction. |

I really love Wal-Mart so I hope that it is still here in 40 years. Wal-Mart allows so many low-income people to afford their needs. Even though I know Wal-Mart is not known for being the world's greatest employer, I've seen worse. |
