Absolutely- most hires in the financial business are not holders of finance degrees- pharmacists, MD's , physicists etc. Wall St firms care most about your analytic abilities and a master-with honors! -is a pretty good indication. |

Even with a Bachelor's degree, you would be lucky to get a job on Wall Street as a gopher or a researcher.
Wall Street is not interested in "bribing people."
You don't need a Masters of Science degree.
What you want is an MBA in Finance or Economics. If you were "good at investing," you would probably know this.
Even with an MBA, the competition is stiff. |

You not that smart if you're thinking about quiting school to work in this industry, you're what they call a schmuck and remember you don't have to be Jewish to be a schmuck
I've been on the street for 40+ years, and nerver had to bribe anyone, nor did I like people trying to bribe me.
You don't need a degree in finance to work on the street, almost any degree is acceptable to most B/D, banks and other financial institutions. Although a degree doesnot help you do the job or even understand it, but Banks and some B/Ds like the idea.
Try to get into the trading departments of brokerage firms, or banks fund companies. Even if it's on the trading desk, any thing will help
If you can luck out, try to get a job clerking on the floor, (pick one they're all the same).
Try to get with a smaller firm so they will at least get you licensed (a 7 at the minimum), then shop yourself around the street as being licensed but looking for trading.
Good luck schmuck |

Master of science wont help you with anything
Wall street you have to get there with an MBA and then after that you need to be smart and what do you mean good at investing that could mean anything... investopedia.com will tell you everything u need to know |

sure, there is aways a way to cheat, and if your good at it, wallstreet MBA will fall to your feet.
unlike science, finance is more a function of what the others don't know. money, fear, and optimism control wallstreet, not an MBA. MBA's run people, not money.
science back ground will come in handy for sure, study both.

A ms degree from a good school will be very interesting to firms on Wall Street...when they are hiring.
Please underline that last bit.
Wall Street (major schools) tend to base entry pay on a combination college and performance and job with or without an internship/trial period.
Some job (mathematical, research) pay very well from start to finish, esp in NY, but have little commission potential. Other jobs (sales, broker, dealer) pay little to start but have enormous commission potential.
Don't kid yourself -- these jobs, esp. in NY, are extremely high pressure. |
