Family money put in trust for you. For example, your parents may put 1 million dollars in a trust fund for you when you are born. This money is invested (stocks, bonds, etc) and grows.

When you turn 21 (or whatever age) they may stipulate that you can make interest only withdrawals. When you are 35 (or whatever age) they may stipulate that you inherit all the money to do with as you please.

In common law legal systems, a trust is an arrangement whereby money or property is owned and managed by one person (or persons, or organizations) for the benefit of another. A trust is created by a settlor, who entrusts some or all of his property to people of his choice (the trustees). The trustees are the legal owners of the trust property (or trust corpus), but they are obliged to hold the property for the benefit of one or more individuals or organizations (the beneficiary, a.k.a. cestui que use or cestui que trust), usually specified by the settlor. The trustees owe a fiduciary duty to the beneficiaries, who are the "beneficial" owners of the trust property.

It is a fund that someone has left you in their will but usually you can't have it until a certain age.

Usually, it a set amount of cash that is set up to provide for another person or organization. Trust funds usually have a executor who upholds the terms of the trust. For example, a man may have a daughter who is 18 and a little "flighty". Should he die, the trust might state that she gets a little money every year until she turns 25. The executor will give her the money year by year, until she hits 25 when she gets the bulk of the money.

A trust fund is a fund parents set up for their kids that cannot be touched until the child reaches a pre-specified age or set of conditions such as graduating from college.

Hope this helps.

Money set aside to be handled and invested by a 3rd party or investing firm, for your benefit later on in life. At some pre-determined age, they give you the rewards of the investing, usually on a monthly amount in perpetuity.
