A 401K is simply a type of account, it doesnt give us ANY idea what you are invested in.
In this market being down 3.4% is not that bad.
A lot really depends on when you want to retire and what your 401K is invested in.
You need to give more details and specifics or sit down with a financial counselor to decide this. |

only 3.4%??? - you're lucky - I lost pretty much all my gains from Jan 2006-Sept 2007 in the last few months - 10+% |

Wait it out, the stock market is rebounding and sooner than later, it will be back to where it was |

RELAX,,, You are actually doing pretty well, better than most I might add. If you compare that to the S&P500 (is about -6% to -7% for the year) that puts you ahead of the competition ;)
I know -3.4% seems big in the statements especially when you put a $ figure next to it but if you are a long term investor and not pulling out any time soon you are fine. |

I lost 2000$ last quarter. However, I invested in high risk.. Just stick with it.. It goes up and down.. |

No. Retirement investing is for the long term. As long as your asset allocation is appropriate, let it ride and keep contributing. If you jump in and out of investments trying to time the markets, you'll wind up further behind in the long run. |

Everybody did. Don't do anything. The stock market goes up and down but over the long term it always goes up. Don't get emotional. Think long term. |

try to ignore it - i suspect you have another 20-30+ years before you need to cash it in. the general market is down 5+% so your 401k is doing well against the broader trend. try not to look at it quarter to quarter, but more year to year - use good balancing techniques (there should be a description of investment mix by time horizon) there are even some funds that target retirement dates - they do the mix for you (stocks vs fixed income instruments)
don't worry!!!!! let it ride. |
